I figured out a way to live in Hawaii and still be able to feel like you're on vacation.

Step 1: Live far away from the tourist traps, but close to work.

Step 2: Find a job in an industry that doesn't rely on tourism.

Step 3: Enjoy the beaches that only the locals know about.

Step 4: Only venture into tourist populated areas twice a month.

Step 5: Make it a point to do at least one tourist-geared activity per month.

A seashell stuck in the sand far away from the water...once alive and happy tumbling through the ocean's waves...Here it lies half-burried in the sand longing to once more feel the waves beneath it...to carry it back home to the freedom of the sea.

What Do You See?

Do you know someone who thinks that everything and everyone around them is the problem? That they are always the victim in any situation? That they can't move forward because everyone around them is holding them back? What can you say to someone like this? How about: Stop worrying so much about everyone around you and focus on yourself. The world is going to keep on spinning whether you're alive or dead. You need to look inside yourself and find what makes you happy and work toward that happiness. You can't always be in control and it makes you sick. The only thing you have control over is your own life so focus on that, maybe you will find your happiness someday.

As I was walking on the beach, I came across this jelly sphere. I tried to do some research to figure out what it could be, but found nothing...

I took this picture from inside a museum. What causes a bird to die? A strong wind and a broken wing? A diseased worm? A cold night? No food or water? When I went outside for a closer look, the bird was gone.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow....

Have you ever had a horrible day and it seemed like Murphy's Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong) was following you around? I have had my fair share of Murphy's Law days, and believe me they aren't fun. One time when I had almost given up, I took a breather outside. It had just stopped raining a few minutes before and when I rounded the corner this is what I saw. I immediately felt a weight lifted off of my shoulders and was able to breathe normally again. I was ready to face the rest of my Murphy's Law day...

Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down....

It was a nasty day in San Francisco - super strong winds, crazy rain, the darkest clouds I had ever seen - I wondered if it was ever going to clear up. All day long the rain pelted against my window, and all hope for me venturing out into the world was fading. When the rain finally stopped, I looked out of my window and saw a break in the clouds and a ray of light shining down on the Pacific Ocean...

FML....

Have you ever read a story about some event then laughed, and said 'wow that sucks, glad it wasn't me'? That used to be me, until I realized that stuff like that happens to everyone. The following is an example of what I mean: I parked my car in a mall parking lot one day - a mall that I frequent often - and after about an hour I returned to my car to find that the front emblem was missing and the rear one was broken in half. I don't drive a nice car - it's not even a brand that most people have heard of - but they stole my emblem anyway. LIFE - "It's funny, it's true, except when it happens to you."

Naughty Mannequins....

Have you ever taken a trip to the mall on a rainy day just to be able to get out of the house? It seems that every time I walk through a store I find at least one mannequin who doesn't like what she's wearing....some say it could also be the little boys that run around pulling off the clothes for their own amusement.
Now this, on the other hand, was an actual window display at Bloomingdales....hands down this is by far the best naughty mannequin scene I have ever come across!

Get your mind out of the gutter...

Perception...what an interesting thing. What do you see when you look at this picture? When I first walked past this bronze fountain, my mind was running a million miles a minute - I giggled, and had to stop and take a picture. From one angle (which obviously is not pictured here) you see a brother helping his younger sister drink from a water fountain that she cannot reach. Yet, pictured here is the angle in which I first came across this innocent fountain. Do you think the sculptor knew what people might perceive from the various angles of this piece? Is it possible that innocence is in the eye of the beholder?

Identity Crisis...

Have you ever wished that you could be someone else? Live a different life with a new name, new face, new identity? I'm sure we have all felt this way at some point in our lives. While driving across the Bay Bridge, I came across this Honda. It struck me as a little weird because instead of the signature H emblem, it had the Mustang emblem. Are people never satisfied with what they have in life? Do they always want something more - something new - something better? I have struggled with these questions for most of my life. My advice: Be happy with what you have, because there are those who have less than you. Appreciate the best things in life, which actually are free - family...friends. You're the only one who can make you happy so work towards YOUR perfect life.

San Francisco Sunset

A sunset in San Francisco is a magical sight. If you have ever been to the city by the bay, then you already know that it is almost always draped in fog. As a native of this wonderful city, I have spent many days and nights hanging around Ocean Beach waiting to get a glimpse of the sunset when the fog clears.
